Kiss FM Presenters Forced to Host Show from Home.

Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o is among Radio Africa Group presenters who have been asked to work from home. Jalang’o and his co-host at Kiss FM Kamene Goro have set up a small studio at Kamene Goro's house for the second day now since Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Several other presenters have also been working from home. The likes of Mike Mondo of Classic FM, and Jacob Ghost Mulee of Radio Jambo among others. It seems this will be the new normal in many stations as Corona cases continue to rise and crumble our media industry.

This comes days after Citizen TV presenters Stephen Letoo and JKL host Jeff Koinange tested positive to the corona virus. Letoo has been at the forefront in covering the Covid-19 pandemic news before he contracted the virus. Speaking to us on Friday, Letoo said that he is fine despite testing positive for coronavirus. Many other presenters have thus been tested and self-quarantined to curb the spread of the virus.

"We will be working from home to allow the office to be cleaned,” Jalang’o announced at the beginning of the show.

The virus has not only rattled the media industry in terms of reduced revenue but also affected journalists differently through exposure to the deadly virus.

Yesterday while many viewers thought Jeff Koinange would skip his JKLive show on Wednesday night, they were surprised when he joined Victoria Rubadiri from home. It was during the show that he expressed his surprise at how Rubadiri had not tested positive despite the two having interacted on Sunday July 19 during the news bulletin.

It now seems that this will be a new normal as these days you don’t need a complex set up like what is found in a studio. With a good quality microphone, a mixer, computer and lighting you can broadcast content from anywhere at any time.

KTN's Grace Kuria was among the first news anchors to host news from home.

""This working from home thing is something I never thought could happen, but it is possible and we are doing it just fine," she concluded.
